Ceasar

This post and pictures are courtesy of Jeslyn.

Ceasar is my show steer for the Caribou County Fair Market Beef Project. We named him Ceasar because his sire is Carpe Diem which means Cease the Day. Ceasar is really nice and is gentle to be around.

This was the first time we worked with him this year. It is amazing how much better he looks after getting all the ratty winter hair off. I love my steer and am excited to show him in August.

Easter

We had a quiet Easter at home this year…I missed my family and the sand dunes but enjoyed the time spent with my kiddos and hubby. Saturday night before the girls went to bed we had a long debate whether or not the Easter Bunny is a girl or boy, big or small. Jauncee was convinced he was a boy because of the vest he wears when she sees them at the store as toys. I thought that was quite a thought. We also talked about Easter and why it is special and celebrated. I think it was a little difficult for them to fully understand it all but at least they know it is about our Savior and NOT the Easter Bunny. I also gave them strict instructions to stay in their room until we were all awake. They didn’t seem to like that rule!

Early Sunday morning I could hear them stirring around, I think they were both trying to wake us all up. Shish…you would have thought it was Christmas!

Easter candy, Easter candy

Hidden all around

Baskets full all fun and dandy

All waiting to be found!

I don’t know how I did it…but for some reason I did! I forgot to take a picture of them all dressed up for Church in their Easter attire! I assure you they all looked so cute, handsome and lovable!

After church and a short cat nap, we decided to go for a walk and enjoy the nice day.

Clay in his new stroller which he seems to really like, so does his momma.

We helped Jes feed her steer.

Why the sad face Jauncee?Mad at something...someone always is it seems.

Oh no! All the grain spilled.

Happy again =)

On Friday we went to The Hatch’s and spent the afternoon coloring Easter eggs, I think everyone had a great time. Once they were all colored we took the kids up the road a ways and had an Easter egg hunt. We must have been too good of hiders because we couldn’t find all of them.

I am so grateful for this time of year, for new beginnings are in the air. Easter brings the gift of hope, peace and love. I have been so blessed with such a great husband and beautiful children which I adore, good health and happiness. I love the gospel and am so grateful it is apart of my life. Many blessings surround us…each one counted…and enjoyed.

Bulls In Bancroft Production Sale

Progress always involves risks! On April 1st we were able to accomplish a goal for ourselves as well as a long-time dream of Dirks. With great anticipation we had our first “Bulls In Bancroft Production Sale”. Dirk and I had been preparing for this day to come for quite sometime, our lives the last 4 months have been consumed daily with bulls, rations, performance data, catalog info, clipping, advertising, pictures, PAP testing, semen testing, setting up and all that is required to pull off a successful sale. We had a lot of great support and are truly thankful to all our family and friends who have spent countless hours in helping us achieve our goal. We had a huge crowd and a very successful sale. I enjoyed every hour I put into it, I was definitely in my element. My time didn’t even come close to all that Dirk did for the sale, and let me tell you, he was/is AMAZING!

We sold 17 yearling Angus bulls which averaged $2,715, 17 yearling SimAngus bulls which averaged $2,676, 13 Red Angus bulls which averaged $2,212. We also sold 3 registered heifers averaging $1,567, 18 commercial SimAngus heifers which averaged $1,188 and 1 ranch gelding selling for $3,750.

Our sale ring…which was a lucky find. We painted it and built the auction block thanks to Dirks brothers for all their help! I thought it looked really nice all set-up & it worked wonderfully to boot!

Terry, Dirks dad was ready with the team and the wagon to take any and all on a ride. It was a big hit especially for the kids.

The lunch line! We served smoked tri-tip, beans, potato salad, rolls and a cookie! Jauncee’s grandpa Dusty came and cooked for us…let me tell you it was so DELICIOUS! I think the meal itself won the crowd over! It was also fun for Jauncee to show her “other” grandparents around!

Jauncee and her best-buddy Rylee Hatch! We love having her and her family around. Great people!

Clyde and Company showed up Wednesday prior to the sale…were they a happy sight! They kindly offered their services free of charge for the first year…they were awesome. By Thursday afternoon they had everything set-up for the sale and all work caught up on the ranch. Can’t wait to see them at branding time!

Our sweet little Clay was such a trooper. He was passed around and around and went without his mom and his milk for as long as he has ever gone. Good thing he is so good natured and curious. I love this picture of him asleep on Katherine, she is Dirk’s cousin, they have been really close most their life. This was the first time she really has gotten to see him and snuggle with Mr. Clay Boone! Next year he is going to be running around…I wonder who will volunteer then to help with him!

Besides my parents and Jake, My Aunt JoAnn, Brady and Grandma Turner all came to help with the event. It was really fun to have them here and to see our neck of the woods. I love you guys!

I can’t believe it’s over and a month has past. I look forward to many more years of sales to come!
