Fish Fry

The Annual Fish Fry was held the Sunday before Labor Day and did not disappoint. This year, it was as good as it has ever been.
This is a Sunday that we all look forward to, and what better way to celebrate the end of summer than with a family gathering in a garden oasis!
My Aunt Sandy and Uncle John definitely know how to throw a party. Every guest feels welcome, their yard is so inviting and the food is absolutely divine. The kids all have fun playing together and were already talking about what they were going to do prior to getting there. The swing set was first on the list.

I couldn't resist getting a picture of Jes sitting by her boyfriend!

This year the Christensen Family is/was expecting 2 babies, both boys. Everyone who came brought 2 packages of diapers and the moms-to-be divided them up. Kristi and Cass both ended up with what could easily be a year full of diapers between the both of them. They were both so grateful and surprised. My Aunt Sandy always has something up her sleeve...a surprise for someone. She has such a big heart!

The hammock was a big hit this year. It didn't even make it until the end without crashing to the ground. Guess you could say too many kids at one time.

Just look at those tomato plants. Aren't they gorgeous? I am envious of their garden and their entire yard. I always tell Dirk that this is exactly what I want our yard to look like someday. (That will probably never happen, but a girl can dream!)

I am so thankful for family and for Aunt Sandy and Uncle John giving us all a reason to gather together as a family.  Family is one of the greatest blessing in my life and I love all of them (immediate and extended) so much. Each person has a special place in my heart and has impacted my life in their own unique way.
Can't wait to get together again.
Is it Thanksgiving yet?

Grandma Johnson's Birthday Party

Grandma Johnson celebrated her birthday this year with all of her family coming to see her over the course of 3 days. On Saturday, those of us that were there played several different games. The favorite was kickball. Clay was kind of a ball hog! He thought it was always his turn and then played it more like soccer, kicking the ball around the bases until he got to home.

We even had a hula hoop contest!

Not sure who won, but Jauncee kept going and going and going...And quite possibly won!

The kids even played twister. Us adults opted out of that game.

Sara made the most awesome cake for Grandma. A garden! It was very detailed. She is one talented girl.

Daddy and Grandma Johnson share the same birthday, so we got to celebrate him twice! He deserved it though because he really is that great!

I really think Annette (Grandma Johnson) enjoyed seeing everyone and celebrating! I hope she had a great birthday!
