A Week in Holden

Our week in Holden...documented with maybe 1 day worth of pictures. I need to do better in the camera department!
Ginger and her cute family came to stay for the month of July, so we made a point to go down and stay for a week. It was a lot of fun and somewhat relaxing as I really never did too much while I was there. (Sorry about that mom!)

The kids spent most the week in swimming suits jumping on the trampoline.

Clay Boy sure loved the hose and trying to get the kids wet!

Look at those curls, aren't they cute!

They kids also had fun playing with the puppies.

Cute little Sammy wanted to take one home. I never asked Ginger, did you end up having to or did he get one for his birthday?

Not sure what flick they are taking in here but it would quite possibly be one of the three: Spiderman, Mario Borthers or Max & Ruby.
It sure is fun to have cousins!

My son is obsessed with tractors, thank goodness there is one at grandmas house!
He seems a little distracted by the ginormous tv.

While we were there we took a few walks that ended at Grandma Bonnies house. Clay spotted this tractor from a mile away and couldn't resist; he just had to get on and pretend to drive.

Before we left, Gram wanted a picture of all the kids together...you can see how they felt about this!

It just wasn't going to happen!

Holden was a lot of fun and I think we are all glad we went. Although I also think we were greatly missed at home, which was nice to come home to. I love my hubby and sure missed him!

Seeing Ginger and her family was a treat, I only wish we could see them more often! And of course seeing Judd and his cute family and Uncle Jake aka Jesus (which is what Clay referred to him as) was just a bonus! Any chance we get to see Grandpa and Grandma, we try to take, because they truely are the best! Love you guys.

Getting Ready for the County Fair

Showing a steer at the county fair is no easy task! Jeslyn has been preparing for months, I think she really enjoys it too. Besides feeding them daily, Jeslyn also catches the steers and rinses them and brushes them. The steers really look forward to it, especially on really hot days. After their cool down they get worked in the corral for a bit with the show-stick. This has been a really fun project for Jeslyn, one that she has taken on and ran with.

This is Spud, her State Fair steer!

This is Thunder, her County Fair steer!

For Jeslyn's record book she had to do a presentation to a group of people. This year her leader (Dirk) told her it had to be somebody other than Momma, Jauncee, Grandma and Grandpa. So while we were having a cookout with some friends, she took advantage of their company and gave them a demonstration on how to lead and properly set-him-up for the judge.

She did a super fantastic job!

All-the-while the kids were playing and having fun together. Clay just idolizes boys! He really like following McCaden around for the evening.

Too cute! Seconds on dessert!

About a week and a half prior to the County Fair we headed to Montpelier to get their feet trimmed.

Here the trimmer is explaining to Jeslyn what he is doing and what their hoofs should look like.

While the trimming was going on, Clay decided to wander and explore the surroundings. He came upon a cat with a couple kittens.

He was trying to feed them rocks!

One down, one more to go!

I am really proud of Jeslyn and her desire to show steers! She has taken on the responsibility and never really complains, nor do I ever have to remind her to rinse or feed. Such a good girl!

Her college fund will be happy!

Summer Fun!

Swimming in Lava
We have definitely taken advantage of living so close to Lava Hot Springs! It has been such a hot summer, the cool water just feels so good. Hopefully we can get 1 more trip in before they close for the season.

Jumping on the Trampoline
Is also a favorite here at our house. Especially when you can jump with the dogs!

Oasis
Our own little oasis in the back pasture! This has also been a great spot to cool down this summer!

I love the Fall so much, and the nice weather September brings, but I am NOT ready for winter! So please take your time getting here....mmmK! Thanks!

Pebble Creek Canyon

One hot summer day we met our good frends for a picnic up Pebble Creek Canyon. After lunch we ventured up the mountain trail and wandered upon a spring. Of course the kids begged to soak their feet, Clay even wanted in on the action until he realized how cold the water was. So he and Coy opted to play in the dirt instead.

The next 2 photos are kind of blurry but funny. I was trying to take a picture of the boys playing and Clay was being a ham and wanted all the attention....posing and saying CHEESE, over and over! It was too cute!

The girls had a lot of fun playing in the water. We had a hard time getting them to leave, but Jessica and I were getting swarmed by a bat and so we wanted out of there.

Minus the bat...It was a fun way to spend the afternoon!
