We have 47 pair out at the Mabey Ranch located about 6 miles North of our house here off Ivins Rd. We hauled the cattle out there on June 2nd. The pasture consists of 380 acres, of which aprox. 60 acres and 1/2 mile of fence were burned up when a not-so-clever couple decided to "control burn" their CRP just hours after 66 homes in Pocatello burned to the ground. We were able to keep the cattle there after the fire and and a full day of fixing fence!
The pasture is quite rugged terrain, but the cattle have been doing well there and the calves are getting big.
These particular pictures were taken when we switched the yearling bull Ten Mile out for Mr Brick Hill. It was quite an exciting day. I should have gotten pictures of roping the bull etc. I was impressed, Dirk caught him his first try, then, just as we almost had him on the trailer, the rope broke and the bull took off. Luckily it wasn't long til we had him loaded on the trailer.
These next set of pictures were taken last weekend. We all went out to check the feed and to fly spray which cows we could. The pasture is starting to dwindle fast, I think we will be moving them next weekend to a different pasture closer to home.
This is the Mossimo steer that Jeslyn is going to show next year.
