Weaning Calves - Victor

Mid October we headed up North to Victor to wean calves and bring them home. It was a bitter cold day. The kids got out long enough to get their boots and pants muddy and wet, then spent the rest the afternoon in the truck watching movies and trying to keep Clay entertained.

We were able to get the cows and calves both vaccinated without too many problems. Which is a huge feat when working with cattle!

Good thing we had lots of good help! Dirk, James, Jeff, Marianne and myself.

Clay got a hold of the camera and took some great pictures!

Love this little guy and this time of year!

I also love the cows and calves and look forward to calving season each year. Weaning time is like harvest for grain crops. Our calves will end as breeding bulls, breeding heifers, and the steers will go to 4-H competitors.
